Did I not hear sometime back that only 561 1965 cars were actually built? Something to do with the "R" cars not being as many or something to do with confirmation of cars invoiced from Ford to Shelby. Can't put my finger on it!! Was talked about somewhere though.
I think that's a good start around 14,000 total. No one can say for sure how many survive today. I think the Registry is a good start, but some years (68 comes to mind) are obviously under reported. I think the average of around 75% is a good guess. So, maybe something like 10-11,000 cars out there. The problem is people aren't willing to report cars that are gone, because of the financial aspect. What's interesting is compare that to what they pump in one model year nowdays...
