got the car almost done, got the stripe kit from NPD, but they have no template for the location of the stripes. Is there someplace that sells a template for the stripes? Charles Its a 69 Shelby 350
Re: 69 stripe help It is pretty much a straight shot. You center the Stripe in the Front Fender Scoop and it goes straight back from there. David.
Re: 69 stripe help Thanks for the reply. My request is for the side stripes, that say GT 350 and run along the body. Charles
Re: 69 stripe help YES, thats what I was thinking to. If you have a Shelby, your Front Fenders should have scoops in them between the Wheel Openning and the Chrome Fender Extension. The G.T. 350 is centered in the Scoop. David.
Re: 69 stripe help The stripe goes on a slight downward angle. It is center in the front scoop and at the rear marker light. Look at the factory pics and you'll see what I mean. Make sure you have lots of room to stand back and check as you install the stripe. Take your time. Now is not the time to rush it.
Re: 69 stripe help I might suggest a laser level. They can be had for less than $50 at Sears. It will shoot a straight guide line for you across the length of the car.
Re: 69 stripe help For the low tech a good old fashioned chaulk line woorks fine as well. Chaulk will wipe right off after.
Re: 69 stripe help Hi to all and Happy New Year! Just a few words of wisdom.Whenever you install stripes,a good heat gun,and squeege are your new best friends. As with any task, surface prep is the most important--in this case clean and lint free.Do not expect the stripe to hide any paint defects.Be 100% certain all body parts and the sheet metal is aligned and tight. Then do a dry layout with masking tape first to get a visual on end result. These are the most difficult stripes to install and you need to really do your layout work properly to have them look good and be straight.Once on ,you will need to work out any air bubbles and pop the ones that cant be worked out with the squeege.Read the Ford shop manual if you can.The basic instructions still apply.Rubbing alcohol and lint free paper towels, maybe a tac rag to be lint free.Lots of room and patience are the real key.Good Luck and keep us posted.
Re: 69 stripe help Another piece of advice...... DO NOT Tape the Stipe down and peel off the paper like most instructions say to do. Use LOTS of Spray (Spray Bottle filled with Water and 5 drops of Dawn Dish Soap) so you can move the stripe around. It also makes it easy to sqeegy out the Air (and water). I have put on many stripes from thin to very wide and that is how I do it. David.
