Unrestored Ebay KR

That was the one that sold at BJ a couple years back for over 400,000. It is a extremly original example but not a virgin . It has had a few things replaced in the engine compartment besides the wheels and tires and steering wheel.

 

Cars been up for sale (not sure if its the same owner) on EB** at least two other times. Don't recall the numbers it topped out at

 

I have seen this car at a couple of shows over the years and actually took many photos as reference when restoring my KR(2935) .The previous owner told me the original owner did not like the look of 68 steering wheel so he asked the dealer to install a much better looking 67 wheel I thought he said he had paperwork -but that is going back a few years. It has had a few things changed as Bob said but an awesome car that has stood the test of time . I also believe the torque thrust were installed by the dealer or shortly after.

I dont get it with this car , its a auto , white car, with the wrong wheels on it , and you guys say that its been changed around under the hood , all because it made 400K in BJ , seems to be silliy to pay that again when theres probably some nicer cars out there.
Although i Like the car , and i suppose its a air Car as well !!
Makes you think what mines worth !!

I get mine in a month after 18 months and $25k of original parts, and an engine rebuild. Gonna drive the hell out it in cruises, cross country etc... I will redo the whole car again down the road but she is gonna see the open road till then.

 

the guy that bought the car at b-j is gonna take a 200 grand lickin' !!!!

 

I do agree $400,000 is way out there, we need a better way of setting the market than watching the BJ(T.V cameras are distorting the market). If the seller was sure of the market value I don't think he would try to dump it a week before the auctions.

 

I'd rather spend the 400 large on the P51D parked with it!

 

From the pictures it is hard to tell but from what I can see the engine compartment has been highly messed with and detailed with repro parts,probably during the rebuild that is talked about. The detailing of the engine compartment knocks a bit out the surviver claim . The redone engine compartment along with the repro wheels and the claim of the wheels being original blows the credability of the seller as far as I am concerned . I wonder how much that isn't seen is not original? It looks like a nice car even without the used car salesman BS sales pitch.

 

I have seen the white one several times and it is actually very nice, retaining much of it's orginal details. I would rank the car as one of the best I have seen. I know of a couple others that are comparibles, but it is certainly in the top 1%. The blue one is a s t r e t c h (for a survivor), missing the smog, starter delay and a list of other parts.

Saw it go through the Leake Auction (Dallas) in November '07. Bidding went to $140.000 Not sold. I know people say it's only original once, but this one looks tired and worn. Think it's time for a restoration or at least new paint and cleanup. You could still enjoy it as is while looking for some missing items.

 

Does anyone know what number the blue KR is. I had car #3860 I bought as a left over in 1969 and I was wondering if this is my car. I heard my car was in Texas a few years ago.
