I've sent them a couple emails over the past couple of years and got no response. They put on some great events in the past, including appearances by Carrol himself. Anybody know what's up with this organization? Joe
I have not been able to make it out to any meetings in the last year but I believe that everything is ok. Their website is apparently having some issues but hopefully that's just technical. Over the last few years, they have been putting together some smaller events but I think that the larger ones became too expensive. Insurance costs for track time became too high so they stopped the "Texas Nationals". I think that's what they called it. There are a number of SCAT members on Shelby Forums so maybe someone else can fill us in. Randall
I know I must have attended 3 or 4 of their Texas Nationals type of events, usually in the fall, and was always very impressed. It wouldn't surprise me that it's happened just as you said. It's very difficult to put these kinds of things together, for sure. Another factor may have been the emergence of the big Unique Performance event, which may have drawn people to it rather than to SCAT. Since that's history now, maybe we'll see things go back to the way they were. Joe
I am board member of SCAT and it's live and well. As said above, track time and insurance have become very expensive so we have smaller events instead several times a year. Club meetings are every month. Texas Swede
Well glad to hear it's still live and kicking. I'm in the Houston area but don't mind traveling north for the right event. How can I get notifications of upcoming events? Do you have a mailing list or website? Joe
Well there is a meet and greet club meeting this Saturday for anyone wanting to attend. See the details below and bring your car on out. The Tolberts are long time friends of the Shelby family and they have excellent margarita's !! Come on out and say hello. ******************************************************* There will be no regular meeting at El Chico tomorrow nite January 8th, 2008. We will be having our first meet and greet Saturday the 12th at Tolberts restaurant in Grapevine. The address is 423 South Main street. We will meet between 10:30 and 11: as I believe they open at 11:00am. Our website is down so I am hoping everyone gets this. If anyone has Tommy and Mary Jane's e-mail address please forward it to me. Thanks Gary Morris President 2008 ********************************************************
Won't be able to make this one as I'm helping with the Westside Mustangs St.Arnold's Brewery Cruise this weekend in Houston. What's the best way to get advance notices? Did i see mention of a website?
Todays club meeting went very well. We had over 35 people and 20 plus cars. The food at Tolberts Chili was as good as ever and it was a really good get together. I think the date for next months meeting will be Feb. 9th. Check the website for details. . http://www.scatracks.org/
Happy to report that SCAT is alive and well. I even renewed my membership after a 10 year laps. The club seams to have returned to it's pre-Texas Nationals form. Just good people getting together and having a good time. The Texas Nationals took alot out of the club and for me it was not fun anymore. I am now looking forward to the next meeting!! Larry
This was my first time to visit a SCAT meeting. Those I talked with were great people, I'm sure the rest are too. I'll see you all at future outings. Dave
February's Meet and Greet will be this Sat. the 9th at The Tijuana Bar & Grill in Dallas. 4900 Mckinney Ave Dallas 75204. Weather should be nice. Larry
Looks like SCAT is alive and well. We filled the parking lot at the resturant on Sat. Had a real CSX 3000 along with a few kit cars. Two vintage Shelby Mustangs, along with new and vintage mustangs. Weather was great, couldn't have asked for a better Feb. Day. Hope to see some of yall next month. Larry
Sat. March 8. 10:30 or so at Belairs in Princton. Just east of Mckinney off 380. Weather looks like it will be nice and cool perfect for those BB cars. Let me know if you need more details. Larry
