    Hi guys,
A couple of questions for the experts:
-On the 65 GT350, were the Detroit Lockers installed at San Jose
by Ford or at LAX (earlier Venice) by Shelby American?
-Did all car's, early and late get a rear axle tag?

My car #275 didn't have any tag when I bought it in 1988 as don't a lot of
others I have seen while others have a tag saying:
    C5ZA - B FoMoCo within an oval
3L89 Date code like 5BC Third week of Feb. SP

Bought a tag from Marti that looks excellent but I want to be sure
they had one before I put it on my car.
    Thanks for any help
    Texas Swede

I'm pretty sure this tag is real.. It would have been from a race car and not a street car though.. I can't remember exactly where it got it from..

    Hi,
    Thanks,
However, Isn't that a HiPo tag and not a 65 Shelby?
Date seems to early for a Shelby.

Most of the original parts on my clone were from a group 2 Shelby sedan or from a large quantity of leftover shelby race team stuff.

This subject brings up another question, why are the 65-66 Shelby tags stamped with different numbers than HiPo tags? Only the Shelby tags seem to be stamped with numbers like C5ZA or C6ZX.

Maybe it's because of the lockers.

That's what I was thinking at first but most 66's did not come with lockers and still have the Shelby specific tag numbers.

Here are two pictures of 65 tags:
    1. Was for sale on ebay $400 and is dated 5EC, Third week of May, 65
    2. Is my repo tag made by Marti using an original as a guide.
Only the date was changed from 5BC to 5CC to match my pumpkin's
cast date which is 5B17. Otherwise they are identical.
