Mike - .........if you read down the list of threads it's stated that the car in the fire is actually 1445 and not your ol' 1446........still a real shame to
have that happen to any shelby though !!!.

 

It is a really sad to see that. The owner probably lost so many other things too. I wouldn't worry about the car though.. There is plenty of sheet metal there.. It will be back on the road again with lots of new parts.

That really hurts to see. Further down in the thread someone made mention of a GT350 racer that was lost too. Wonder if that one was a real car.

 

someone will buy the salvage and the old girl will rise again;it will prob show up at some high profile auction house as a fresh numbers matching(wink wink)award winning restoration.(this is why you should always verify history)

I wonder which of the other cars in his impressive

collection burned right beside the Shelby, and it looks like a vintage motorcycle also burned right behind that car on the right side of the Shelby.

I would be alsolutely inconsolable. Yep, it's only "stuff", but some "stuff" really can never truly be replaced.

Some of us Muscle/Collector car folks look upon our cars pretty much as family members. Several members of this gentleman's car "family" have perished in the worst possible kind of death, fire. Insurances rarely make a person whole after a disaster like that. How can you replace one of a kind type cars or motorcycles? Even if you get other reasonably comparable replacements, they will have different numbers and personalities.

I laughed when I read where the guy posted that the insurance will probably only pay $90K for it because it was not a concours car.......... I would NOW say to the Insurance Company...... "PROOVE IT WASN'T".

I have been fighting a fire loss for over 2 years;insurance will wiggle worm and just try to wear you out so they can opt out on the cheap.I lost bussiness equipment/some personal items in my office.Its been a nightmare.
So everyone keep those appraisals/pictures inventories in a safe deposit or at least a fire proof box.

It has been reported on another shelby site that the owner has given his blessing to put pictures of the car as is in the new registry.

 

This brings a question to mind. How do the registry owners confirm authentic cars really are destroyed. In other words, if they don't physically confirm this somehow, what would happen if a person started forwarding a pic of a destroyed Mustang and saying "5SFMXXX" was destroyed in a tornado, here are the pics. At best, I could see this causing a lot of turmoil for an owner.

I would like to think no one would do something like that, but why would someone start a computer virus? What is the gain? Unfortunately, people just do that crap now days.

 

I find it somewhat strange that something that is movable (unlike a house) is lost in the wild fires. I know if that were my car, I would have tried to move heaven and earth to get to it before it burned?
I know it was probably easier said than done at the time, but still?
