So i was at Bob Allen Ford in OVerland park kansas this afternoon and i stumbled upon an 08 shelby gt. On first glance, the car was a normal gt...however, upon closer examination, i found that the car had the wrong type of hood pins. It had the 07 hood pins and on top of that, they had been applied terribly, they were completely misshapen, not even hardly conforming to the shape of the hood, also the car was missing the pins themselves. Also, as i walked around the car, i notice that the "GT" badge on the back of the car was a GT California Special badge where as i know they had regular GT badging. The cars number was 1123.....i know that the first 300 08s were grabber orange, had 07 style hood pins, and were signed by shelby. Also, i know that there was an 07 shelby gt california that could be had in black or white with a special guage pod, i think they made 200 of those cars. This car was a vista blue, automatic car way outside of the first 300 cars for 08 that was brand new. Does anyone have any clue what is up with this car? By the way, i know that i mispelled weird! BEst Regards, Vern
Sounds like quality control has been reeled in by production boss... Did you see any clues on the Sticker?
I'd like to see some proof before anybody starts bashing Shelby quality. I have seen lots of these new Shelby's and the quality has always been Excellent.
I know,i will try to get pics, i have always know the quality control to be very good. I thought that could be a possiblity. No....i dont think so, i have always known the quality control from the factoy to be great. Let it be known that i am not aiming this post into a "lets bash the factory thread", i am merely tallking about one car that looked a little strange to me....lets not turn this into anything else because we all have a tendency to do that (myself included) Best Regards, Vern
The California Special faux gas cap seems to be a Ford issue. There were a few '07's reported with those also. robin
Did those only come on the actual california special or did they also come on the shleby california specials with the guage pods? BEst Regards, Vern
There was talk of it on the Shelby Public Forums. It is felt since the upfitters package is basically California Special trim, that the California Special cap was was mistakenly put on. Some also reported a few with the V6 faux cap. That would actually have been a better choice as it would compliment the grille emblem. In any event, I do not believe any pattern was established for cars with something other than the standard GT cap. robin
Thanks for clearing that one up Robin! Now for the hood pins, i cant think of a factory error that could put 07 pins on this late of an 08 car. BEst Regards, Vern
