As I´m slowly starting to look for a 67 GT350 - documented GT350, but not concours condition, I found this pretty interesting.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SHEL...oryZ6236QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Not being able or willing to pay the high dollar pricetags that the concour restored cars have, I know I must be willing to accept missing Shelby parts, wrong colors etc.

I´m awaiting sellers answer to my questions about body repair/parts replacement, Shelby parts etc.

I don´t want to start a thread bashing this Ebay car, but I would like if you who know much about these cars and the current market could let me know what you think I should take into consideration when determining what price would be reasonable for a car like this one.

Feel free to PM me directly.

    Thank you
    Anders

WOW......it will cost you about $20K just to paint it back to the original Britney Blue. Because you will have to stripe every part off the Car so you can put it on a Rotisary and roll it over to Re-Paint the Underside correctly.

I can give you a hundred reasons to....

wait for the next car. In most peoples' minds there is always another Shelby just waiting to pop up on eBay or in the paper or in a magazine, etc. I have 4 Shelby's and when I bought each one of them I thought that I had paid to much. In 1978 I paid $3,500 for a '67 G.T.500 and thought that I had been raped. Now all these years later I'm just grateful that I bought each car when I did. Take my advice for what it's worth which probably ain't much but so be it. Good luck!!!

I think the best course would be to stay away from this one. There's too
much wrong vs whats right. It will be expen$ive to make it correct.

I had written a long reply but lost my server. The car looks like a project car sold threw Legendary Motor cars of Ontario Canada, to a man in Saskatchewan Canada, who hired Curtis Frazer of Esterhazy Sask to restore the car. I spoke to Curtis once and he said it needed lots of work but felt it had turned out ok. Curtis had restored other shelbys, I never saw the car personaly. It was for sale in Sask. then South Dakota, Texas & now Arizona. If done right it may be a great driver at the right price, but it had lots of metal replacement. I am quite sure this is the same car as I thought it odd to paint a beautiful brittany blue car puke yellow. That said if the price is right and the workmanship good its worth a look. I hope this helps

You're probably right about this one coming from Canada. I saw a 1985 photo of 67 #2190, and the complete front end was off, except the frame, and was on blocks. Looked like a front end accident. I know it needed lots of metalwork done and an expensive restoration. Also, I heard it has a replacement engine.

Anders I might have Curtis Frazers phone # if you want to ask him directly and get the real story . If the work is done correctly it could be a deal .Face it we all know what a good "no story" car is worth$$$$$$$$.

#2190 was advertised Aug/98 in the snakebite by Legendary for $11900. A complete project car. I offered to buy it if they could quote and performe the restoration. The person I talked to said it was a home builder, needing to much time for them to complete. So I passed. I have not met Curtis Frazer, only delt with him on the phone. I think he is honest and knowledgable, having restored other shelbys. I would give him a call, it could be a great car!! I would also repaint the car to its proper color. That alone would dramaticaly increase its value.

Thank you so much for your input here as well as the PM sent directly.

I agree with you that there is alot with this car that is not correct, and with the already known history, non original drivetrain, major body repair, then this car will never be a high dollar original Shelby.

If the restoration work has been done correct, I do however think it could be a good car for the person who wants a strong driver accepting that much is not original.

Why the car was painted this yellow color instead of a more original color is a mystery to me, and that would definately have to be changed.

Am I totally of if I say that this particular car - in its correct color would be a 80K car? Then the car, as it sits right now, should not go much higher than 65K right?

    Thanks
    Anders

If the workmanship is good, you have a car that can be enjoyed and upgraded at your leisure. The Shelby parts are there, mechanical parts can be found more easily. Restored 67 GT350s are asking 125k, are they selling for that??? I think the yellow car could be a 65-75k car. But you must inspect it.jmo

"Well" restored, no questions 350's are selling for 125 or so.

    (just sold one last month)

    Thank you all

Seller has sent me about 75 pictures, including some old photos, probably from the time when if was found prior to the resto.

On the old pictures, the car is in primer, so it´s difficult to tell if bodywork has been made at this point, but the complete front end is off the car. The radiator support and innerfenders looks to be undamaged at this point.
At this point the roll bar, belts, steeringwheel is still on car, but doorsides, dash &instruments are off the car. Rear end looks complete apart from exhaust tips, embelms and trim around taillights. A few boxes with old parts is viewed in these pictures.

The pictures showing the car today shows what to appears to be a nice restoration of body, floors etc. Many parts could be wrong though as I don´t know much about it. The hood on the car is supposed to be original Shelby. The nose and the trim there looks to have a different texture.

With this knowledge, do you consider this car to have an especially "bad history"? I would think many Shelbys have had their fiber replaced at some point?

Is the bad part with this car not in reality that it is known and documented, where as with other Shelbys that have gone through a similar restoration and exchange of parts that we today really don´t know exactly what has been done to them prior to them being in perfect condition?

Seller has set a reserve not far from my own price guestimate in one of my previous posts.

I still think it´s a pretty nice driver - especially when compared to the many "tribute" cars where sellers are asking 50K, but I´m still undecided whether or not I´m going to bid.
With the amount of work ahead, it would probably be wiser to wait for the nice original car "on sale" for 80-100K

If you would consider a 1968 GT350, you might also look at drmach's 1968 GT350 that he listed in the Shelby Forums Classifieds about a week ago. you'll have to contact him for more details but he is a forum member and the car looks nice for $69,800. He says

Ive always loved the 68s, ever since I sat in one on the show room floor. Thats why I ended up with one. The 68 350 advertised ,looks like a beautiful car and a sound buy. With a little work ( cam change & head work) it will performe as well as a 289 hipo. The original sheet metal and low miles is hard to beat!!! jmo

Thank you very much to all who has helped me with info on this car. Thank you especially to 67 SAAC registrar Dave Matthews for his time and very helpful way to deal with a newbie from Scandinavia:thumbup:

Also thank you to Stephen Becker who contacted me with his info from actually surveying this car years ago.

Even though I was offered the car at a very reasonable price from a seller who was being very open and upfront with what he knew about the car, this was not the right one for me.
