All- I've posted here a couple times regarding smog setups for the calif -500's and have been able to gather photo's showing at least three different variations of the PCV arrangement.
One variation has the PCV and hose assembly going from the rear passenger side valve cover to the intake manifold port just under the foward carb. Another variation has the pax valve cover plugged and instead the system has a two piece hose/valve assembly coming out of the oil filler pipe cap which connects to the 90 degree neck under the lower plate of the air filter assembly. Finally the third variation- again from owners photo's... has the PVC installed in the drivers side valve cover cap and it also connects to that foward lower plate on the air cleaner.
I know the complete emissions set up includes the smog pump/cannister/check valsve/air manifolds etc.etc but I only question here is which system PCV variation would be correct or for that matter- most correct for my April 67 calif emission's car #636?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Re: 67 GT-500 Calif Smog

Dave just so we all start down the right path car #636 was assemblied at Ford in April? Car with a Shelby number in the #600's might have a Ford VIN of about 7R02Q17xxxx. Think something is off (maybe you left off a number ;).

Have you gotten a Marti report on your car? It would show when the car was completed at Ford. If not we could guess that it might have been Sept-Nov 66

Lets figure out what time period we are dealing with then work on the other details

As for the Smog there were a couple of running changes in the GT500 systems that were related to similar changes in the Mustang systems.

Ok now we have a date we can work with. From this date I believe you would have the early style of Thermactor system with the floating canister (rather than the one attached the shock tower) with different hoses and stuff.

The other way (if we didn't have the dates) would ahve been to attack the question from the DSO group angle.

As for the PCV set up, I would look to some of the cars in the 900's that we have pictures of (and you likely have copies of) as some of them were completed in the end of Dec. Not too far from yours.

So that would suggest the standard 390 PCV, threaded block, and attachment point on the passenger side of the intake manifold. In addition, for emissions, the fill tube on the front of the intake would have the "elbow" and hose to air cleaner base, though with the PCV this would seem to be redundant... maybe that is why stuff changed ;)

    What do others think???

    Hope this helps

Thanks- I saw it. Owner wants big $$$ but it certainly is a very good reference as to what the system looks like and what pieces were used.

Yes the pictures are an interesting resource - everyone should be aware that there were at least (possibly) 6 different variations during the year for the GT500. Currently attempting to put together the changes and the dates they relate to

Jeff- I believe the Oil Filler tube with the "nipple" or outlet spout is a C4AZ-6763-A. Also the cap for that tube would have been a C4TZ-6766-B (EC-31) This set up would have been used on a late 67 thermactor closed emissions car. The "nipple" on the tube would have had a small hose that connected it to the crankcase vent flame arrestor C4AZ-6A827-A which then attached to another small hose that then connected to the "nipple" that came out of the air filter base plate. Do you agree?
