Wow, very impressive. They do go very well together. How about some history on both?

What was the opportunity? The photo shoot, the P-51, or the GT350?

The real Mustang.. the P-51, was owned by Michael K. Smith. It is part of the aviation collection named in his honor, which also includes the Howard Hughes HK-1 (spruce goose). I work there as a docent. On a rare (for Oregon) sunny January day I took my 1965 clone to work. Low and behold the P-51 was moved outside the building into the parking lot where I usually park. I borrowed a digital camera and clicked one picture.. then the battery died.. funny how life does stuff like this.
My car is a finished project I started in 1975.. It is a combination of real and self made parts. I started with an early SanJose fastback and made the best version of a GT 350 I could. When I stared the project this hobby was very different. Doing what I did was considered and honorable and worthwhile activity.
    Thanks for asking,

    Jimbo,
Thanks for sharing the picture. Your project looks great. Can you share more photos with us of the 65? Shelby isn't the only one who builds cool cars.

Here is the motor compartment. I wasn't trying to make it look like a brand new Shelby.. I was trying to make it look like a 40 year old driven car that had been really pampered along the way. (which it is)

    Nice job,
The export brace and Monte bar look like originals as well.
What is the tag covering the "Shelby" tag?

Jimbo, nice workcar! It looks like you have a wood steering wheel in it. Just curious as to which one? Ken.

It was originally from a 60's sports car of forgotten brand. I made the hub.
The "horn button" is real.. I traded a new repro for a dinged up original.
The wheel is 15 1/2" diameter. It looks more real than the newly produced versions.. but it is not an original Shelby wheel.

The guts are "Sun Super tach II" the case and bezel are from a Mack truck speedo ..(delco). I made the face on a computer. Had it burned into a silkscreen and printed exactly 2 of them.. It came out much better than the pops (once again, I left the needle white as a symbol of my personal individuality   )
