    Hi ford fans.
I live in Queensland Australia. We have many interesting muscle cars, both produced locally and imported from overseas. I have owned many tough fords including several Xb Falcon hartops (Mad Max type). I am interested in an original 69 Shelby Mustang Fastback with the super Cobrajet 428. There are several of these cars available still in Australia, and i am enquiring as to an example for price, cause i like everyone else hates being ripped off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also have many contacts whom can source rare and quality cars hidden deep within Australia.
Interested buyers can reply with a wish list and a pricing structure.
Many thanks and good Luck to all.

    Regards
    Dave

    Dave,
I can't give you specific help, but I'd say from driver quality to very nice, the price should be between $30k and $60k. Of course, if you get into completely correct/concourse, then the price will sky-rocket for that model.
But I do have a question for you. Did a lot of the American muscle cars over there come from US military guys? When I was stationed at North West Cape, married guys that brought their wives over, had to stay for 2 yrs and could bring their cars, but if they sold to a native, the car had to be modded to right hand drive. When I had some leave coming, I went to Perth and saw a red '69 MachI in a showroom, which I recall, had $20k written on the windshield. Does this sound right? Remember, this was back in 1970. I figured the Mach I was a used car...I didn't stop to look. I was astonished as to the price...especially when a used one back in the States was probably going for $3k or less.

    Hi Early67,
Thank you for your reply. Yes the price you seen even back in 1970 would of been totally correct. Come now in 2005 the prices for mustangs range from 10-20,000Au upward for a model in need of total restoration with many parts missing. i am unsure about existing vehicles still existing from US servicemen, Most models i have been looking at have been private imports from recent years, there is also several American dealers whom export mustangs and specially sourced cars upon request. The particular 69 Shelby Supercobrajet 428, i am interested in has already been converted in the US before export to Australia. As it is a manual with factory black exterior, the owner informed me that it is 1 of 5 built with these optons. The vehicle is in excellent condition with all matching numbers and verifications from Ford and Shelby. I assume as it was converted to right hand drive it would be easy to reverse to normal, i would prefer to return it to full original specs.
    Again thanks for your help.
    Regards.
    Dave
