Ask the corner workers at SCCA events if they remember riding in the race cars during lunch break. 6S1776 had a passenger seat just to give worker rides as a thank you for working so we can race. Amen to that, Lee & Mike. I love instructing for the various club driving
schools and always enjoy taking my students who want a ride. It makes my
job a lot easier to be able to demonstrate what I'm trying to get the
student to do and to understand that the turn-in, apex and track-out points
aren't huge imaginary circles 6 ft. in diameter but about 6 in.!
And, Lee, you're right about the insurance thing. For most clubs, we
can't take anyone out unless they're registered as students or workers and
no one under 18 years old. What a shame but that's the kinda world we live
in today.
