    Charley:

I agree..........the original 1967 Drag Strip magazine I have, featuring the "Super Snake" does not show the engine that is on eBay. When I gave your car the "once (even twice) over" in Utah last year, looked correct to me.

I'm not a FE expert but it appears that the date codes listed for the heads are 1970. Kinda late for the car don't you think? ;)
No date code for the block is listed.

Someone should do something about this. someone is going to pay a huge price for something that apparently isnt what it seems.
Kind of blows my mind how some people think that they can get away with great big scandals like what they were going to do to charley's car.
    Best Regards,
    Vern

This engine was purchased from Jim Hadden the original owner of the Supersnake Shelby. According to Jim the Supersnake was delivered with this 427 tunnel port engine. This engine was removed by him and a Lemans engine was installed

    Charley:

Think about it...........The above quote from the auction is also insinuating that your car does not have the original factory 427 motor.

The seller also writes this in the Q & A section of the listing.

"I have personally spoken to Jim Hadden, this is the motor that was used when the car was drag raced, I have been told that these 427 motors (blocks) were not stamped. We do not claim to be Shelby experts,or FE experts, , we have also been told that C7 on the heads stands for 67, 66-427 P cast on rear of block is what was used in 67 cars.We will post all ?'s and comments on this motor. If the buyer/bidder does not believe it to be the motor that was in the Super Snake when drag raced they need to bid or make an offer accordingly. We posted every # we could find. We are not trying to pull anything over on anybody, what is the motor worth w/out the Supersnake story.Again any and all comments will be posted so that any potential buyer can make his own judgement. Thanks for your time."

I think this whole situation sounds like bulls$#*. I think some needs to send them an email via ebay and help with the decoding. And without some original documentation or pix verifying the motor it is just another 427.
I hope they go Barrett Jackson style with a "no reserve auction" and i can pick up a motor cheap.

Charley it was good to see you last weekend and i will see you soon as i picked up my all alum 490 FE yesterday. I will post some pix of the motor and let you know how the tremec 5 speed goes in.

Isn't a Motor just another Motor unless you can get the Car that goes with it? If there is no Cars VIN# stamped in the Block, then the history does not mater.

    David:

FYI. the big block Shelbys in '67 did not have the VIN number stamped on the block. So there is no definetive way of telling if a car has it's original motor. All you really have to go by is date codes.

I sorta read into the ad that the motor was in the Supersnake when it was drag raced and only drag raced. That may be true. So the seller is sorta side-stepping and giving a half-truth to the originality of the engine.
It's possible the car was drag raced with another motor.
I think it's worth what a similar engine is worth and nothing more.

I still have it. In fact I drove it to town today a couple times. Once for a starter solenoid for my forklift and later for a Pizza. Now it smells like Little Ceaser's inside.

    Charley,
I had talked to you sometime ago about Comfort Car Connection. Could you email me and give me an idea what you thought of them and bascially what they did for you.
    Thanks,
    Max
