Does anyone know the production number on these for 1970 (1969 left overs with differently painted hood)? I am looking at one. Mike
By production number, do you mean how many? I think that there were 789 or so left over 69's turned into 70 all models. For a 70, look for the 2 holes in drivers door where old 69 data plate was removed. It should have a paper type tag on the door instead. Front chin spoiler, and black stripes on top of the front hood. Good Luck!
Hi Mike, Well, what I thought would be a simple task wasn't. I thought there'd be a distinct section of the Registry for '70's, but they lump the '69's and '70's, I guess since the '70's are really '69's. Then I thought, "well, this still won't be bad, because I'm sure there's a serial number cutoff." Wrong again. So anyway, I looked through all the '69 and '70 cars in the registry looking for 0F02R's and whenever I found one, I checked the color code for a "V" (actually after a while I started scanning each car for a "V" then checking the S/N as that proved to be faster). Bottom line; I counted 22 total. I wrote down each S/N if you'd like me to PM you with them. I also noted a very well respected member of these forums owns (or owned) one. Only a small handfull of cars did not have the color information, so at best there could be 1 or 2 more than listed. Also assume I could have missed 1 or 2, although I was pretty careful. It's safe to say it's a one of 20's car. Marti also does production reports for year/color combinations if you were serious enough about buying the car to order one. Hope that helps, Josh
Boy I sure hope not! I don't have my registry here with me, but when I get to my office I'll have to double check. That'd sure suck if I went through every serial number looking for the wrong color code...
For my 1970 Boss 302 which is an original Grabber Orange car, the color code is "U". Not sure sure about '69, but I would assume they are the same.
The codes used in the Registry are not the same as the codes used by Ford. I am not really sure why, but that makes things just a tad confusing
DOH!!! V is Grabber Yellow in the Registry. Grabber Orange is H. Sorry Mike. When I have time to count H's, I'll let you know.
