I know this topic has been brought up before, I am building a GT 350 clone and wanted get your opinion on the stripes. thanks Nick
What year are you building......what question do you have specifically about the stipes? Best Regards, Vern
1967 fastback GT 350 clone, just wanted to get some feedback I know none came from the factory striped did the 65's come striped? is that why dealers started adding stripes to the 67's was it more of a dealer promotion for the car? I am paintimg mine Black and leaning towards no lemans stripes. thanks Nick
The 65s could have come either way. About 1/3 of the 65 production came with factory stripes. Here is the site that i like to reference 65 info from....enjoy. http://www.1965gt350mustang.com/numbers.html Best Regards, Vern
If I had a clone, LeMans stripes would probably go on. But I don't. And, if you look at the magazine-like book that came out a couple of months ago, about Shelby Mustangs, in it was a photo of the 67' Shelbys lined up at Tasca Ford.....NONE had LeMans stripes. I think a few dealers, moved a few cars, by adding LeMans stripes. AND, I was just looking at my photo album. Back at SAAC 11 in Dearborn, there must have been about 30 or so 67' Shelbys. Maybe 2 had LeMans stripes.
Lemans Stripes Hey again guys, Can anyone tell me what determined whether a 68 GT-500 had Lemans Stripes or not? Was it dealer add-on or factory Shelby? Thanks again. 1968GT500
Re: Lemans Stripes If you are asking "from the factory", then no you car didn't. By 68 the Lemans stripes were out of style but I guess an owner might still want the 65-66 stripes on the car.
