In a few weeks this event is going to happen in Nevada. It is an open
road timed event "race" or road rally. They block off a 100 miles or so
of rural highway and do this event. Participants put themselves in
classes based on how fast you are going to average at the end. Closet
time wins that class. Its way too late to participate this year,
although there are other events. */

There is a team competition./* A team is five or more. There is an
existing Ford team and a Mustang Team. The Pantera team had ten cars
make the BBOR in Texas. They blew away all the other teams. All
finished, 7 did very well. There should be a Shelby Mustang team. I
issue a challenge to you. Let's put together a Shelby Mustang team. I am
getting crazier in my older age to want to do this. Please take a look
at the web pages below and let me know if you have a streak of craziness
left to join me.

You also need a navigator as well as a driver. Remember this is a timed
event. Who who finishes closest to the time WINS that class. Competition
is tough and experienced.

Note: yes there is a degree of danger here as in all racing. But if you
plug into the 85 mph is it much more dangerous than driving on the
expressway? Go over that 100 mph changes the equation though. Read about
the track and the event on the web pages. Mike Drew and I are on the
Pantera list if you want to commuicate with a particpant.

I would agree with you that its a scam. 'Specially when you see the part
about eBay will suspend your account.
I have gotten a very similar msg sent to addresses of mine that eBay has no
idea I have.

These are great events, but let i tbe known that they can be very very
dangerous. In the early years of these events they had some really bad
accidents, far worse than one typically sees on race tracks. I think the
first person killed in the Silver State was driving a Pantera, and after
his wreck the car was so destroyed that in the pictures I couldn't see
anything resembling the unibody of the car. All I am saying is take what
you are doing very seriously, and prepare everything to those levels. Get
as much advice as possible from people with experience at making cars go
150-200mph.

These events while great fun, are serious business and should be treated
as such.

Hi Dennis,

I have a friend who ran this several years ago and had a great time.I'm
sure I could talk him into being a navigator or maybe even running
again. I think it would be fun. I am now living in Singapore but will
be back for the Wine Country classic and Monterey later this year. Maybe
next year this would be a fun change of pace. How many cars are required
for a team. My car was doing 155 mph at Pacific raceways last summer and
that was a 3.89:1 rear end. Maybe the 130 group would be a little easier
on the car. Put me on your list and let's see what kind of response you
get. I will be coming from San Diego. (Although I still may be living
and working in Singapore.)
