The Shelby GT requires premium fuel. Can I safely run 87 octane in the car to save on fuel cost? I was thinking since they had knock sensors that the computer would pick up any pinging and would retard the timing. What are your thoughts.
No premium fuel, no warranty says the Shelby paperwork- 4.80 more per tank, premium is probably worth it. Just my thoughts, Mambo
It may save you a little at the pump, but in the long run it MIGHT end up costing you big. I wouldnt take the risk... Best Regards, Vern
I have noticed that when I run 93 octane compared to 87 I get about 10% better mileage. Should be enough to off set extra cost.
I got lucky. They have a VP fuel station 3 miles from my house. I mix the 100 and 93 and the car runs night and day from a full tank of 93.
