    Hi MNlawprof,

My husband and I rented two Shelby GT-H's from the Hertz location at the Orlando airport. We didn't have to sign any special paperwork for them, they didnt go over the car with us or inspect either of them when we returned them. We thought it was weird at the time that they just gave us the keys and told us to have fun, that is an understatement. When we returned the first car, my husband and I told them what was wrong with it. The manager was very generous and offered us another Shelby GT-H for the rest of our vacation at a discount and unlimited mileage. We are renting another one for our vacation this summer from the same location. We drove them hard, but treated them with the respect they deserve. I will post after our vacation in July how we made out this year.

    Hi Vern,

We rent our Shelby's from the Orlando Hertz Location by the airport. We have convertible rented from 7/3 to 7/11 this summer.

That is wierd. I live in Windermere and rented a Jeep Liberty at the Orlando airport two years ago and they kept me there for almost an hour going over the thing when I returned it.

    Rentals

I've got to agree with you, this borders on "urban legend," although again, I wasn't there so will take her at her word ... but it's sure unlike any experience anyone else has had, and surely us. Unless these cars aren't renting at all I can't imagine how they'd go from $200/day with only 100 miles free some places and that deal ... but it's a helluva deal so glad they got it.

I'm anxious to see if the 07 convertible prices go down like the 06's did.

    Happy Easter everyone.

I never rented a Shelby at the Orlando airport precisely because of the ridiculous daily rate and the fact that they told me they only allowed 100 miles per day and you couldn't leave the state with the car. My guess is that the cars did not rent very well as the cost was too high and it was too much of a hassle. Negotiating the maze that is the Orlando airport is enough to make you pull your hair out as it is. I actually drove to Dallas recently instead of flying just to avoid that airport.

    Hi Everyone,

When my husband David and I are at Hertz this summer I'm going to take print outs of your posts and show them to my contact at Hertz. I can't understand why you and our good friend who is a doctor had to actually dance through hoops in order to rent a car. When we rented our two Shelby's last summer and that was the first time we had ever rented a car, period from anyone. Our experience with Hertz was great, except they said they told me to bring a bill with our name on it which I didn't. But, for some reason I had my Sears bill in my purse and they used that to verify that we were alright to rent the car. If anyone has any information you want me to pass along when I'm at Hertz about your experience good or bad in renting any vehicle from Hertz please post it and I will pass it along. The contact I have made at Hertz came from the Corporate Office. I have found that if you deal with customer service they can only do and go so far for you. I have been in customer service for 30 years, so I know what my limits are. My new way of handling any problems that I come upon is to write the CEO of the company I'm dealing with a letter directly and so far 100% of the time I have received a phone and/or a letter from someone that works close to that person. I will post about our rental experience after we come back this summer.

You can also email me at lilkit2@verizon.net, this is my home email address.

Still available for rent, and for less

Been a while since I posted, but just got back from Denver over Memorial Day weekend and Hertz was pretty well sold out even online, so I went with a cheapie and figured I'd upgrade there for a better deal (sometimes). I asked if they had any convertibles and the reply shocked me, "No, just a GT-H convertible, but you could have that for $80/day, unlimited mileage." Quite a change from last summer when it was $200/day.

How sweet that is! We live about 10 minutes away from the home office of Kruse International and they are putting up 80 Shelby Gt-H Mustangs this weekend. Wish we had the money to buy one, but we will have to wait awhile longer. Enjoy your Shelby, we leave for Florida on July 3 and will pick up our convertible at 11:30 for 11 fun days.

    Take care,

    07 GT-H prices plummeting?

I wondered if the 07 convertible GH-H's would go the price-way of the 06's; i.e., start out unreasonably hight, then show a pretty drastic decrease.

While my quest for a GT-H ended happily with an 08 Bullitt (man, I'm lovin' it!), I still think the GT-H is pretty cool car. I've not been tracking them as closely as I was, but it sure seems they have cooled in price.

Anyone keeping a closer eye on price and availability that can provide an update? E-bay is what I'm basing my observations on.

I still wouldn't mind one, I've got to be honest!

Most of the Hertz locations have given up the GT-H convertibles because of the new yellow/black stripe Covettes that are now the Sports promotion. Saw about thirty of them in late May in San Francisco and a few in Charlotte, NC. In Hawaii, the GT-H convertible is still available on Maui (2) and in Honolulu (5). They are expected to be pulled for local sale as soon as the 'Vettes arrive.
