Hi guys Has anyone of you put his car on a libra to get the exact weight of his 65?? I´m not interested in any facts in any papers because they go apart too much. Like here in germany i read a Mustang weighs this much in a other magazin it says 100 pounds more. Please give me a exact number. Also mention with gas tank full/half full/empty you know what i mean. Thanks alot!!! Bye Jerry
Hi Jerry, I know your question is in regards to a '65, but in terms of validating any printed claims, here's a post I recalled seeing on a '66 GT350 (had back seats). http://www.shelbyforums.com/forums/1965-1970-shelby-mustang-gt350-gt500/4355-one-myth-confirmed-66-gt350-weight.html
Hi Jerry, When I moved cross country a few years ago I had my cars weighed and my 65 weighed 2780# and my Tiger weighed 2420#. I don't remember how much gas was in the 65 at the time, but I think it was close to empty. Paul
Hi guys Sounds interesting the 66 had a automaic right? I´m doing a list where i write down all the stuff what i put in the car and what i´ll throw out. Right now i saved 100 pounds exactly on all small stuff in the car. Beginning with hood springs over to radio, ash tray, emblems, hood locking mechanism all that stuff. The big stuff like: steel hood, windows, carbet, heating, rear seats everything wheighing more than 4 ponds is not listened. I want to have it to the pound and my R Model unter 2425 pounds of weight. If i keep on saving like now i think i can make it. To gain power it´s cheaper to thow stuff out you don´t need instead of having your engine built up for over 10000$ I keep you updated on this. Any racers here and know their weight of the car???? Bye Jerry
Jerry, Regarding lashs' '66 GT350 weight, it was originally an auto, but it was converted to a 4 speed back in the '80's when the restoration was done. Josh
