Here we go again. I would refer you to Shelby American issue #65 page 35 and 36, where concours chair Paul Zimmons introduces "concours lite", now known as Division 2 . I quote, "concours lite will be for cars which are restored to concours quality but which, although correct for that model or year, may not necessarily be correct for that particular car." The reason? Paul defines that very neatly in previous paragraphs. Because SAAC came into possession of all the factory invoices for all Shelbys made and those folk who repainted their cars and backed them up with doctored door data tags were now found out. To prevent a continuation of this fraud, Division 2 was created. I wrote Kopec at the time and wondered if SAAC would now take away all those awards that the cheaters had won. He decided not to take any action. Wonder how many of these "doctored Shelbys" won Divison 1 Gold? Maybe SAAC will now come up with a Division 3 to allow for "reproduction stamps". This is absolute insanity and will only do irreparable harm to the value of legitimate Shelbys. SAAC should be made aware of this immediately and steps taken to punish owners who decide to cheat and give a black mark to all legitimate Shelby owners.
