1970 Hemicuda Convertible

    Good evening gentlemen. I know I always post here asking questions about other cars which always turn out to be less than desirable counter to how their describe them. However, there is a 1970 Hemicuda convertible 4 spd, dana 60 rear, in 9.8/10 condition that I've seen with my own eyes for sale. The guy wants 69k for the car and even tho its not numbers matching its still a hell of deal to me at least, every cuda convertible online is 70k +, with hemi cars in the mid 6 figures. Feedback?

    That sounds cheap ,the market seems to be soft and getting softer from what I am hearing .That is the story we are hearing here in Canada. And with some of the big collectors like Dave Chisenholz selling off his complete collection signs and all (at Mecums auction)i am wondering how low can a Hemi Cuda go .I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the market..Thanks

    I feel like the market is soft but that only really effects cars like regular mustangs, camaros, firebirds, chevelles, etc. I havent seen a big decline on BOSS mustangs, Shelbys, or rare mopars, ie a convertible hemicuda. I would love more feedback on this post. Who else thinks 69k or less is a good deal for this car???

    Great cars are still getting great money. Good cars are still getting good money(just our perception of good has been skewed in the past 3-4 years). Cars with stories/???s/excuses are falling dramatically. I was surprised to see all the quality cars at mecums spring classic......looks like it might end up being a blood bath. i know i said great cars are still getting great money, just maybe there isnt enough of that great money to be fielding an auction of that caliber right now.

    It depends on what kind of enthusiast you are. Are you enthusiastic about the car? Or just enthusiastic about making money on the car? Sounds like the latter to me.

    By not numbers matching do you mean replacement hemi engine in an R code body or a hemi engine tossed in any old Cuda convertible?

    i guarantee the car is a clone, not just a replacement engine.....real hemi cuda convertibles are still million dollar cars.

    Ya, its definitely not an R code car, there were only 14 R code convertibles produced, so no chance of picking any one of those up for less than 7 digits. And to Roddster, critiquing my reasons for considering buying this car isn't helpful or polite at all. Did you ever stop and think that since money is limited and the economy continues to go further downhill, I can only afford to make a smart purchase??? This is not the type of car I would ever buy and sell, I just simply can't afford to buy this car for anything less than a steal.

    Nash bridges drove a 70. I forget...was it fyi or currious yellow...or were they the same?

    With a hemi and a top that drops....money well spent! Drive it for as long as you like and then sell it for the same $ later. The markiet is just fluctuating now, it will stabilize and return and prices don't drop for very long.:alarm:

    This is true, anything with a ragtop and Hemi is worth $$$. And yes, Nash Bridges drove a hemicuda vert. as well, but his was an even more rare 1971. Ive seen the main N.B. cuda in real life, its a 70 that was made to look like a 71. They wanted to use an original color, but that shade of yellow wouldn't show up on tv so they used a non-chrysler yellow.

    So I've checked the hemicuda out couple times this week and have negotiated the price down to 50k. Thoughts? The car is a 9.5 overall and in great running condition, the Hemi just needs to be dialed in.

    Sounds like a good deal. Almost too good to be true. Before you buy, i would make absolute certain that the car is built right.....lots of stuff had to be done to the structures of the barracuda to accept the big bad elephant engine.

    Good call, and yes Im going to put the car on a lift and thoroughly go through it. :) Keep your fingers crossed gentleman, hopefully there we'll be a tire melting Hemi in the garage soon.

    The only thing what would bother me would be the Edelbrock
    carbs. What where the original ones? And what was the size?

    The rims...and add the Hockey Sticks. One of the few 'over the top' 70's graphics I still like. Would be a lot of fun to pull up to the lights and watch the looks that broad H-E-M-I on the rear flank draws. :lmao:
    I think the oe was Carter AFB, so the Edelbrock would be ok 'cause they're just as bad. :eek:

    It has the hockey sticks on it, just not in these pics. And yes, the correct carbs are Carter AFBs, which are temperamental but for a wkend car it doesnt really matter. Gotta love that Shaker hood too ;)
