False alarm. These 2007 cars are not two seat Cobras a la '62-'67 AC Cobras but instead a sedan and a pickup truck (which Aussies call a "ute") that use the Cobra name and the blue stripes on white livery. They pick up the theme of the Falcon XC hardtop that won a big race in Australia in 1977 that later had a '78 version called the Cobra. The engine they call the Boss 302, a 5.4-liter 32-valve V8 engine rated at 405 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. There's a bit of irony in this because a few years ago CS was mad at the Aussies for making a car called the Cobra (though Ford owns the name Cobra) but now that Shelby's on Ford's payroll , presumably this Down Under venture is representative of the new spirit of working together.
