Ok...in a dilema here in locating the right part as we are missing ours and someone welded a hokey setup for our traction bars.....as far as the under ride traction masters traction bars....did the the three hole mounting brackets that mounted under the shock plates have a part number on them..traction masters web site says they should be marked 10-68 and the bars have an M-1 on them.. can anyone veryify who has there original traction bar set ups still...I saw an auction for 10-70 plates that were the same structural desighn except for the part number stamping on it..

    THanks

I have a spare set that I have had for years and they have the 10-70 date M-1. Not sure if there was a change during the year for this. I'm not sure what number car mine came from.

yea I saw an auction for some 10-70 and someone told him that all 66s came with 10-68 ...so we passed on the auction..now my father wishes he would have just got them just to have a period correct bracket...do you still have your extra set? Interested in selling...email me... barelafamily@comcast.net

    Thanks,

The OE bar you need has the M-1 cast on the very end of the mounting loop, not the side like the current TMC bars. Most 66's I've seen have original rear brackets that were cast 1068 RH and 1068 LH. I do know of several cars with original rear brackets cast 1070. They were still a side specific mirror image pair but had no RH or LH in the casting. The 1068 or 1070 is not a date but relates to the TMC part number. Typically 1068 was for the Mustang part and 1070 was for the Falcon but there must have been some parts mixing going on back then. I have compared the 1068 and 1070 casting OE rear brackets and other than the numbers appear identical.

Good looking out..actually its not the bars I am looking for but the plates that secure these to the rear end..now I know though what I am looking for.

    You all are great...

now that is some good info I did not even think to ask about..but I am sure our bars are original but when we had the rear end put in they jacked our mounts up and welded them to the bottom of the shock plate..looks micky moused...I will do a measurement of ours center to center tommorrow..
