My dad would like me to take him to tour Shelby Automobiles in Vegas. Any pointers or tips on when to go or any special Shelby events in Vegas to coordinate this trip with?
I took the tour mid-day on a week day about two years ago. There were about 8 total people (me + three friends + four other people) on the tour. I'm not real interested in the new Shelbys, I'm more into the ones from the 60's. So, with that said, for me, the tour was not too spectacular. All the older cars are on display when you first go in, so you can walk around that area and look at them as you wish (but they are roped off, and most of them have the hoods closed, so you can't really see inside the cars or see the engines very well). Beyond that, the tour takes you back in the area where they put the Shelby parts on the new Mustangs. Most of the discussion is about the new cars. So, in my opinion, other than the fact it's in Vegas, it wouldn't be worth making a special trip to it. If you are going to Vegas anyway, it's definitely worth checking out. If I remember right the tour was free, or if not, it was not very expensive at all. I'm a tight wad and I don't remember complaining about the tour price B) John Thomas
The tour is free and, in fact, i just went on it over christmas break. I thought the tour was a great time and i think any shelby enthusiast simply must go on it. Besides, aside from the factory, you can view csx2000...the 23 million dollar cobra! Best Regards, Vern
