not exactly the same perhaps, but of concern with any title company, especially those that wash titles for use in other states, i offer the following as a caution : Titles Unlimited used to do title washing in Ga , or somewhere in the south east...and that TU dude is facing jail time in california ..other states are investigating too. seems they provided a title for cobra replicas, and other rods/custom cars, saying it was a 65 or 66 or whatever ford thus circumventing the emissions laws/statutes etc in many states as the car was NOT a 65 or whatever was represented. might be apples and oranges here, but they were in biz for years too...til Calif found out some folks were beating the system. Don't know anything about A to Z and most likely entirely different, but there are issues with some of these title companies . do a search on Club Cobra http://cobra.terraworld.net/ under Titles Unlimited and whoa boy, get ready for some long reading and car owners facing some jail time and fines as well for misrepresenting what they had ! now , of coures some owners screwed themselves by claiming lower purchase cost etc thus also dodging higher taxes in addition to misrepresenting titles. the investigations in calif are ongoing with Rod builders under the microscope now. some folks have serial numbers on their titles of 65 etc mustangs, ford convertibles etc, and that is hitting the fan too. some other reading : http://www.imreview.ca.gov/presentations/Titles Unlimited_AG.pdf boyd coddington under review re titles : http://www.streetrodderweb.com/hotnews/0410sr_boyds/ due diligence is in order for any title company usage is my take...or take your chances. bill, motown -----Original Message----- From: Stephen G. This is a sure way to eventually be named in a lawsuit. Imagine: Two owners claim the same vehicle with this "obtained" title, and your name is connected. UGLY! All car collectors, especially Licensed Dealers should know, circumventing the system will surely come back to haunt you. Just find out what the rules require and follow them! One of the jobs, we do in researching cars history, is tracing titles. Car titles coming From Alabama or Arizona are scrutinized. .
