    Jimmy,
The Holley you are looking for will be marked 3259 and
probably dated some time from Sept. 65 to early 66.
My friend's car 6S923 which was produced at Shelby in Feb. 66
(Ford in mid Jan) has an original 3259 dated 581, i.e. Aug. 1:st
week of 1965. There is no other marking on the airhorn than
    List 3259
    581
Later carbs than Aug. 65 could be marked S2MS- as well.
This type of carb with the date code you need should be quite
easy to find. Pop up at ebay frequently. Be prepared to pay big
    $$$$ however.

Thanks for that info Tex...thanks for that link on ebay..I just emailed the seller for a pic of the air horn to see if there is a date or if this is just an aftermarket or service replacement..keeping my fingers crossed.

the one on ebay has a date code beginning with "2". So it is 1962 (or 1972). Not dated right for your car.

yea we are calling the seller today..of course it cant be a 62 as they were not made in 62 with a S2MS part number on it...and since it is date coded it must be a factory carb and I dont think that there were any cars in 72 that came out of the factory with a shelby part numbered carb? I am probably wrong on that but for shure 62 is way off....we are thinking its a 7 and not a 2..but we will see I will post here what the seller says today..

in the '60's & '70's Shelby sold many Holley carbs ( 3 digit date codes) over the counter.

thank you very much for that info...yea the seller sticks to it being a 2...so it must be a 1972 date code.. guess it would only be good for parts then hugh...darn...then hunt is still on........

    Thank you guys!!

The carb has been on the shelf for years so it would need a cleaning and kit. As to value I don't know what its worth today.

it's worth is dependent on condition. If not restorable, then it's value would be zero. If it was already restored, then it would be worth over $ 1000.00 Restoration costs begin around $ 500.00. Could go much higher depending what parts are needed.

p.s. I have a '67 date coded Holley 715 in excellent restored condition taken off a '67 GT-350. I would love to trade it for a '66 date coded carb in like condition.
