Hello, I am looking for a proper carburetor for my 1966 Mustang. It needs to be a Ford Autolite 4100 for an automatic transmission. I am really not sure why the type of transmission makes any difference. I have found this Autolite 4100 on EBay. The person says he has 46 of these carburetors. My question is are they truly proper for Concours? Do not want to buy something that a judge would throw out! Ford Autolite 4100 Concours Plated Carburetor (1.12) Buy It Now price: $669.50 I need some advice. I live in Tacoma, Washington and have driven Mustangs since they came out because Dad was selling Fords in Bellevue, Washington. My first Mustang was the 1964 1/2 with a 260 V-8. Best Regards, Jerry
Jerry, Does your 66 Mustang have the 289 HiPo (K) engine option? If so you will need the 1.12 HiPo carb. If not, you need the standard 1.08 carb. I believe the 66 HiPo carb for manual trans should have the C6Z-C stamped on the foot and the one for automatics should have C6Z-F stamped on the foot. Texas Swede
Dear Fellow Members, Sorry for my brain fade. I failed to be more specific concerning my quest for a Concours carburetor. My Mustang in the 1966 Hertz with an automatic transmission, which I believe is fairly standard for that model. It presently has a Holly put on by the first owner. Would the carburetor mentioned by Texas Swede be what I am looking for? The first owner put in Pony seats, so now I must look for the plain black. I have been told that new leather covers are not very good because they are very thin. Any suggestions? Best Regards. Jerry Tacoma, WA
