im new on here a really a novice to the hole shelby world but there is one thing i do know and that is after riding in a GT500 i just fell in love with it. I have tried so hard to find one to do up or even one to buy anywhere in the uk but you lucky sods in the US seem to have all the luck. . Could anyone give me any ideas or information of anysort that could help me track one down so i can live my dream of owning such a gorgeous piece of automotive history.
I found a pic of my "dream Shelby" on google: '67 GT500 in Brittany Blue w/ no LeMans stripes and Kelsey Hayes wheels....belong to anybody on here??
Picture of my 67 GT500 in the late 80's. Looks a little crazy now, but I never did anything to her that could not be undone. She is nearly all stock now. Picture taken at Milan dragway in Michigan. Check out the guys SuperCoupe hat in the foreground.
Whoa! Slow down there Pilgrim! What are you trying to say? My guess is "How do you know it's real? Got a 427 GT500. Want to buy? Help?" and that guess doesn't make sense either. robin
ok i'll slow down . looking at a 1967 gt500.it has a 427 in the engine comparment.i would like to know if it is a true car.any help to identify so as to be sure would be of great help. thank you mike
Look up my post about how to identify a 67 Shelby, that will help. And, if you think you have a real one, post the vin so somebody here can look it up in the SAAC registry, or, if you really need to keep a secret, email the 67 Saac registrar. Go to www.saac.com for his email address. AND: Shelby only made 3, 427 GT500's (according to saac, 2 drag cars and the Supersnake, unless I'm wrong) the 428 looks similar to the 427, so identifcation mistakes can happen. I do find that, most "427ed" 67's seem to have had a warrantied engine, so, most were dealer installed ones. Still not a bad deal. And beware, once you start looking, you really hear every kind of way-out-there stories to support the B.S. Like the "ran it down the assembly line in LA after work" type ones.
wheel pilgrim i think the 427 was pulled from ca.because of smog problems however there were a few that still made out to the public.like yourself i may be wrong peace yourself
