Hey there all ...me again...wanted to ask if anyone could decipher these date codes on this borg warner T-10 four speed...side cover looks like the date is either a 5 22 65 or a 6 22 65 ...the tail housing looks like its a J 20 65 ...not sure what the main case date is?? not sure if I should read it strait on or upside down..took pics of both views ...looks like a 1 1 6 if you look one way or a G 11 if you look the other way? hope the pics help...thanks...

The first picture shows the assembly date
    B8 6 2 which is Feb 8th, 1966, second shift.
The other ones, i.e. casted dates are difficult
to see but must before the assembly date in
    February.

Thanks Tex....ok....now knowing that....just got off the phone with a tranny guy..and after talking with a couple of other people selling some 65 66 BW 4-speeds ...the date code on the main case in between those little screws should have a letter denoting the month made..so here is what I found out..let me know if anyone knows different in general on these trannies for the late 66 shelby that received the all cast BW T-10...

    tail housing is dated...J 20 65 (9 20 65)
    side cover is dated.... 6 22 65
    Main case is dated.....L 1 5 (11 1 65)

    assembly date is B 8 6 2 (2 8 66 2nd shift)

On the main case we thought it was 1 1 6 , for january 1 66 but now knowing that there should be a letter in front.. that 1 must be an L (can see a little of the leg on the cast) and what we thought was a 6 is clearly a bad casted 5 ...because there is no way it could be a L 1 6 because of the assembly date being in feb of 66...so only conclusion and looking closer is that what we thought was a 1 is really an L and the the 6 is realy a 5....that date code correlates with the 65 date codes of the tail housing and side cover...yea....

Now the question is...seems like everything else on these shelbys..these dates are a couple of months out from actual assembly dates...

By the way the pics of the tranny are of one that came damaged...so we still need to find one with similar date codes...the hunt is on....anyone have any spares out there???
