WRITER TO WEAR ARTIST HAT AT POMONA

Wallace Wyss, whose histories on Shelby, Cobra and
GT40 were new books in '07, says he will be wearing his new artist hat at the Society of Automotive Historians literature swap meet June 22nd at the NHRA Museum in Pomona.

After 40-plus years as a writer, Detroit native turned Californian Wyss became an artist by accident after he made a painting of Shelby to promote his books and someone bought it off his book-signing table at a car show. "I decide that maybe there was a market for car art," says Wyss, who describes himself as a "primitive" because unlike the artists int he Automotive Fine Arts Society, he has no formal training as an artist.

"My style is super-realistic," says Wyss, who paints in watercolors and then has the image transferred to canvas to make a giclee. The 20" x 24" prints sell for $350. Each is signed by the artist and numbered.

He will also offer some 8" x 10" versions for $35 each.

The four new works making their debut at Pomona will be the '65 GT-350, the Corvette SR-2, the GT40 Gulf version and the Ferrari 330LMB.

Those who want to reserve one in advance or see a preview can contact the artist at: Photojournalistpro@hotmail.com
