I just finished my first day of a two-day Performance Driving school at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. It was a blast! Even though the Z06 had about 185 more HP than me, I was able to stay right on his rear bumper in the turns. He blew me away on the straightaways (what a surprise ). We weren't allowed to pass unless we were given the "go around" signal. Needless to say, the guy in the vette refused to give me the signal. My instructor was pissed! I'm not trying to brag on my driving skills....I'm definitely a rookie at this! The Shelby GT is awesome roadcourse car! I get four more track sessions tomorrow. Maybe I'll get another shot at the Z06!
Yes get pics. On one of my first days out with my GT I had some guy in a Z06 trying to egg me on, I might be crazy but I'm not stupid! If I would have had a GT500 there might have been a different ending to the story, but that's for another day. How much was the driving school?
The driving school is only $280 for the whole weekend. It's a bargain for the amount of track time and classroom instruction you get! Check out the Carolina Regional Mustang Club site at http://www.ponytales.org for more info. This year we had 62 students, but there's room for 75. We would love to fill up for next year!
Here's some pics. Sorry for the quality. My wife took them and evidently doesn't know how to work the zoom! I had to blow them up to keep the car from looking like a speck. I put a bunch of blue painters tape on to protect the car. I was out there thrashing it pretty good with only 1800 miles on the odometer! The rear brake pads are completely gone already. I'm going to put Hawk HPS pads on with Rotorpro zinc plated rotor front & back. I was able to run my 06 GT convertible during the Touring Laps on Sunday. My 10-year-old son rode with me, and we got up to about 70mph despite having a pace car. He had a blast!
