Hi there! I am new to this forum, and i am excited to get to chat/communicate with you other shelby guys out there. I live in Denmark, and this month I bought a 67 Shelby GT350 clone, which is on the way to me, and i should receive it in the middle of april. Really excited, and can't wait. It is my first mustang, and my dream car. I am pretty much a perfectionist type.. so i have a question i hope you can help me with. I could see from the pictures, that my contact in the US took of the car, that i "wont have a RPM tach" My dash already have the stainless steel thing, but the "mounting" of the taches looks like in this picture: http://67mustangblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/front-before.jpg Now, my "goal" is to get a "dash-settings" like this: http://www.tachman.com/67clstr.jpg By this, i mean a 140mph speedo, and a 8k RPM, and of course the other small taches so it mach. Where can i get all 5 taches, like in the tachman picture? I've been looking on the inet, and couldnt really find any. especially the 8k RPM and the 140mph speedo.. Or shall i/do i need to buy a whole new complete stainless steel dashset like the picture? I hope you guys, can see what i mean, my english isn't that well in writting P.S - I have already mailed to tachman one time, he responded me one time, but now it seems like he is igoring my mails. P.SS - i know where to get the rally pack, they have it on cobranda and will order it soon - so no need to discuss that P.SSS - if your interrested in seing the veichle i purchased, i can try post some pictures. Thanks again, and for you time. Regards Sakhi, Denmark
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 Welcome, glad to have you here! Too bad the car does not have the "original" style deluxe set up that all the 67 Shelby's did - that will set you back some $$$ if you want it to look correct. Post a wanted ad in the classified section - maybe another member can help. I have an extra original bezel with aluminum, but no gauges, if that helps. (it would need to be restored, but it is correct) The 8 k tach will most likely be the hardest unit to get. Mike
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 Hello Sakhi, If you have a source for the dash, speedo and tach you are looking for here is the US. Buy it. For that matter any other item you may need or want. As you know the Euro is much stronger than the US Dollar currently. (I heard today it was something like $1.70 US to 1 Euro or something like that) Everything to you will seem very inexpensive (cheap). Just do it. Post an advert as Mike had recommended. Goodluck. Regards, Earl
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 Thank you guys i will post a want ad soon. Yeah, the dollar currency is not looking to well, but as you say, "it is good for us europeans". PS - i already have the deluxe stainless steel dash in the car, it is just the correct mounting setup i need for the the taches. Thanks
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 The "stainless" front is very appearant. But, many folks don't know that the "backing" for the gauge cluster with a tach is different too. So, you need to find the backing for the tach dash. Tachman can reface the 120 MPH speedo and the 6000 rpm tach to look like the appropriate one you are looking for. Try: Ebay, Perogie brothers, or put up an ad in this forum.
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 One other bit of information to add. I believe the mustang dash harness is different from the shelby harness, so even if you find the correct shelby / gt cluster you will need to change out the harness to get it to work properly.
Re: "Taches" '67 GT350 Hi Sakhi Welcome to this forum See you in Copenhagen as soon as the weather permits Anders
Thank you all for the info. I will let you know, when i figure something out. It sounds like this operation cost "a few" $$$$$$$$ But what the heck, i can maybe sell the old parts I just got a private-message offer from a member in here, and requested some pics. And Anders = Of course
looking for Shelby parts or restoration, then checkout www.tachman.com/ford.htm and if you need mustang instrument parts, I have them. by the way, if you convert your tach to the minus side of the coil, it will result in a very costly repair. auto instruments cannot do in line tach repair, i know, he just sent me a tach begging me to make it right, i did, but very costly. get it together, man, tachman is authorized ford service since 1979, I conversed with George miser at faria , the designer of ford tachs and he taught me everything. if you sent it to someone else and it blows up, a bunch to repair it. live and learn sir: I do not ignore anyone. I have just returned from a long overdue vacation. been 2 years since i have visited my mother in Maryland. all you have to do is email me at tachman@bellsouth.net and I will answer your questions. www.tachman.com/ford.htm tachman
no problem tachman! i will contact you in the near future - my mustang is currently in the workshop fixing minor stuff. and thanks again for your kindness
sakhi i have all the parts you need for you 67 shelby cluster, i even have an original 140 speedo, shelby tach, clock and gauges and tons more stuff. my outside email address is tachman@bellsouth.net tk tachman
Hi Tachman! How big a operation is this really? Can it be done, without changing the WHOLE cluster? Or can i just buy the 140mph tach and 8000rpm tach (of course with wires and correct parts) and install it? Or will i have to change the whole thing? My cluster is currently like this: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2427691830067187156ESrCBr?vhost=rides and as i am saying i would really like a 8k rpm and a 140mph tach done the "easiest" way but you know better i know looking forward to hear from you
first, you have the standard dash housing that a tach will not fit where the fuel/alt gauges are and you need the wiring for the back of the instrument cluster. if you go to www.tachman.com/ford.htm and scroll down the page you will see what the 67 and 68 metal housings look like. i have everything you need, but please email me at tachman@bellsouth.net as it is hard to log in here all the time when i am so busy. tks tachman
