Selling a 68 GT500 KR - - Advice??

    Hello to all -

    We may be looking to market our 68 GT500KR.

    We have owned the car for 15 years, primarily taken out 3 or 4 times per year for dinner runs and fun cruises.

    The car now draws far too much attention when we have it out.

    Any advice on how/where/who to market the car? It is located in a climate controled garage in Western WI.

    Any insights / recommendations are appreciated.

    Ebay is a good advertising tool. You should read this article, it may help.

    Especially the part about eBay.

    I recommend you have a reserve, but do not list it in the auction.

    The other thing you might try is to send me an email, I know of several people looking for a car right now....maybe I can hook you up?

    Ebay has a large viewing audience but you don't always get the serious bidders and may find the auction ending with your reserve not being met. I would try checking out www.shelbymustang.com. I know Bret and he will offer some good advice or make you an offer which would allow you to avoid the hassles of dealing with some wanna be Shelby owners out there.

    Load her up and take her to the Barrett Jackson and hope Amy finds a guy or two that hasn't been fallowing the market and has had a few too many cocktails ,then pay Mr J 10% or whatever it is and laugh all the way to the bank. Or advertise on E-Bay and deal with a few(hundred) tire kickers .Seriously i would advertise with the local SAAC guys or Team Shelby or even the local mustang clubs . Good Luck!

    Probably a 9 on a scale of 10 with around 70K miles-

    I'm assuming that this is a fastback.

    Need a LOT more info. Are all the hard to find parts (snorkel, carb, dizzy, etc.) there? Is it the original drive train? Has there been a color change? How much sheet metal has been replaced? How good is the paint? Any rust anywhere at all? How does it run? Does it leak fluids? Anything that doesn't work (like the tilt)? Any non stock parts (like headers)?

    All of these things (and more) determine the value. From the little you have said then it sounds like you have a driver quality car and IMO the price range will be between $80-125K. The ones you see selling for above $150K in today's market are really, really nice cars with few (if any) flaws.

    Haven't seen too many north of $150,000. Something closer to 110 is probably closer, definetly would need a lot more info, your 9 could be someone else's 6.
