1966 GT350. Need some help with my rear brakes. Changing the rear shoes, and there was no brake shoe retaining washers. I ordered new ones ST2028 from CJ Pony Parts. I went to install the shoes, and it seems as though the washer doesn't go on far enough. The anchor pin is stepped. The area where the springs attach is one size, and steps up to a larger size where the brake shoes rest. Is the washer supposed to be up against the brake shoes, meaning the hole in the washer is the size of the step up? The washers I received only go over the first part of the anchor pin where the springs, and the auto adjuster cable go. There doesn't seem to be enough room for the springs and the cable with the washer in the same area. I am assuming the washer should be up against the shoes. If so, is there another part number I should order? I hope someone can understand what I am trying to explain.

Washer should be against the shoes. If it was me, I'd drill them and be over with it.

There doesn't appear to be enough material to enlarge the hole successfully. Do you know if there is another part number that I could order? Thanks
