Hi all, Found this site by accident trying to find out about a problem with my 2007 GT 500. I have had it 18 months. 40 miles on the car and never in any weather. The entire rear axle and mounting brackets are covered in rust. It would appear as though it never got coated with anything when manufactured. For obvious reasons I never had the car rustproofed but this looks like hell! I have already notified the dealer and Ford Motor Co. and am awaiting a response. I also have a 2008 Bullitt that I sometimes drive so I don't miss the Shelby so much. I am also always looking for hints on proper storage besides just the stabil in the gas and trickle charging the battery. I also like to ride my Harley and my favorite event of the year is the Kruse auction in Auburn Indiana that starts the end of this month. Jon
Hello and welcome to the site. Do you have any rust appearing under the hood? I have seen that also. I think Ford is trying for a vintage look right off the showroom floor! robin
Hello and welcome to the Site. The Rust is usual. It is just surface Rust. The Parts are Cast and are not coated from the factory so yes they will get surface Rust real fast. It is a PITA but you can "Scotch Brite" the Parts and paint them with Rustolium Paint. David.
Welcome, How 'bout instead of paint, since the car isn't driven that much just clean up the rust and wipe it down with oil. Then it stays original. Just a thought.
