All, I am happy to post that the two parties have reached an agreement. This has been a long and hard road but it was worth it for the betterment of the two groups. I want to thanks Dave Winkler, Dave Mathews and especially Ron Richards for their tireless devotion to getting this resolved. I also want to thank all the others who helped and supported the re-uniting of these two great groups. We all realized the members were the ones that were suffering and for that reason alone, this needed to end. The Shelby American Automobile Club will stay a separate membership club and continue the great registry work they have done all these years. In show of support for this new deal, SAI will attend the SAAC-33 event in New Jersey this coming week. I hope those of you who are in the area will join us to celebrate this historic relationship. Amy The SAAC Post is here http://saacforum.com/index.php?topic=2118.msg18006;topicseen#msg18006
This is just the best news we can imagine... Thanks to Amy and the TS gang...and the boys at SAAC... for making a formidable task become a reality. Now ...it's back to enjoying the cars and the friendships they bring to us. See you at SAAC-33!
Wow, I beat Vern to a response!! as Amy said, this is the news we have all been waiting for and it is truly a great moment for us all. SAAC 33 will be an even more magical event with this matter laid to rest. let the healing begin and rejoice amongst ourselves that we are at a good place once again.
This is absolutely wonderful news. I haven't been this happy since I bought a 289 Cobra for $1500.00!!!
Aw darn ya got me! It is great news that has taken the devotion of many people to achieve........we can all finally get back to concentrating on the cars that we all have a passion for! And by the way, we should always remember bad history so that it not be repeated, however, this night marks a clean, fresh beginning for everyone involved. What was said was said, we cant change it, but it isnt worth dwelling on. A new day has dawned! SAAC 33 is going to be one HELL of a party! (and hopefully the SAAC guys will join The Team for a great time in Tulsa next summer!) Best Regards, Vern
I was happy and excited until I read that... thanks for slamming me back down smack dab in the middle of my pathetic, Shelbyless existence! In all seriousness, this is great news. That dark cloud that hung over this great hobby was getting to be a bit much. Glad to see it's gone. Josh
yes - it is absolutely fantastic...... congratulations to all involved with those many hours of hard work to make it possible. WELL DONE !!!!!!
THANKYOU LORD!!!!! That is great news for a lot of us Shelby enthusiasts who have been walking a very ackward tightrope for the last 9 months. This should have never happened to begin with.
I guess I don't understand the "gushing" that is coming on this thread, how everyone's life is so great and wonderful now, mine has not changed. For months and months, the details have been pounded down our throats by SAAC and how evil and corrupt CSI is, and from CSI, what a bunch of liars SAAC is, and who knows the true story. And now this is settled with no details provided? I'm sure this involved $$, and I just wonder how carefully the "SAAC legal Defense Fund" was accounted for, as I assume people did send in $ and items for auction. Wonder which/who's pocket that money will find it's way into now..... I'll save my convention $ and go have fun elsewhere.
That's really all you needed to say, I guess. There was a disagreement...and now it's resolved. Most are happy. Some are not. That's what happens.
I, like the Commish, would like to know how it was resolved. I think everyone that was touched by the whole sequence of alegations and events are at least owed a point-by-point summary of the outcome. Seems like others feel that way too. I won't elaborate on specific questions because there's no way to do that without making it sound biased. Suffice it to say, good business practice calls for some rational accounting of the outcome. No confidential information or who did what to whom -- merely a sensible recitation of the results. E.g. SAAC gets to use "SAAC" or "Shelby American...". CSL licenses them to continue/offer/?? whatever. SAAC handles vintage registry and or current and/or... Team Shelby coords... Clearly some of these things will become obvious even without a good-business-practice declaration of the outcome. In the meantime I'm happy for those who are blindly happy with no clue as to why except that the parties say they are happy. For everyone else, I hope their genuine interest will be satisfied so closure can be had. Right now I'm in limbo -- wanting to be happy but not willing to be a mindless fool -- hey, I have my standards
Why don't you all come over to NJ this weekend to SAAC #33 and ask Rick, Ken and Amy. I'm know some statment will be made or you can just sit on the sidelines
As was stated in the public announcements, more details will follow in the coming weeks. Right now, everyone involved is ear-deep in the Convention this weekend. Suffice it to say that "business" returns to normal, with a stronger relationship between the Shelby group and SAAC.
