Ready to Fire

    After almost a year of sitting in the garage I am ready to fire up #2891. About a year ago my 427 SO was running hot and ended up seizing. I pulled the motor, took it to a friend and started the rebuild. I had come up with some performance ideas and up-grades i wanted to do to the motor. When my friend realized the 427 SO block was code dated a late 66 block, had the original PI heads and intake with correct dual carbs for a 67 GT500 he said i was a fool do anything but build to stock. I decided to invest in an all aluminum block, heads and intake. I had it bore and stroked out to a 490. I then pulled the 4 speed and installed a Keisler Tremec tko 600 5 speed. After almost a year of collecting parts and waiting for time to install she is ready to fire up. Tomorrow is the day. I am interested to hear what the motor sounds like.

    I have a question. With the new added torque and hp i am nervous the car might twist like end up looking like a churro with the windshield popped out. i was thinking a set of frame connectors and an x member would prevent this. I installed frame connectors and an x member in my brother's 68 Bullitt project and it really stiffened the car up and made it much more drivable.
    If i weld them in, does that destroy the overall appearance and value of my Shelby? i kept all my original parts and could turn the car back to stock but since my original block is long since gone it really doesn't matter.
    I am not sure if bolt in frame connectors would work themselves loose and tear up at the bolt mounts.
    Do i weld them in thinking that a set of welded in frame connectors is better then a car that will look like a twizler?

    You already answered your question. Weld them in.

    I know what needs to be done. I was looking for some other options i had not explored. I guess by the lack of comments I am taking it that i should weld them in and not have a lime twizler.
    Who would you recommend for frame connetors? Total Control? Global West? I know the Total Control frame connectors are square similar to the torque boxes but would the Global West set, which are round, be less noticeable?
