Well the time has come to build a new one. I will need a building big enough to house 8 cars with room for expansion. Say two more cars in the next 5 years. Plus I have some parts. ie. fenders, doors and 20 years of other parts I don't know what I'll do with. I have what amounts to unlimited room to build. Within the same structure be a wood working shop (separated by a fire wall). Keep in mind this is a storage only building. I also have two Pro Parks. It will be a pole barn construction, cement floor. So what I am looking for is some advice from persons that have built one. What do you wish you would have done different and some of the better ideas you have. Thanks guys.
My shop is 100'x40', 40'x40' I use for working on my stuff and 60' x40' is home to my other cars. Accesss is one key factor[how much snow will need to be remove to get to your building come winter time]. make sure the floor level is high enough that spring run off won't create a water problem in the spring. Some sort of heat,, even if its kept at 55-60. I put sheet plastic under the cement floor to help stop moisture from working its way up. keep it as sealed as you can. Mice just love places like this. My shop has sky lighting, windows mostly in the work side only
I know you said room is an issue, but if possible make sure you can open your drivers door without it hitting another car or object. Even if it is just for storage, you will probably want to crank them up every now and then. My 2 cents. Cheers TommyJ
