PRICE GOUGING NOW IN EFFECT for 07 Shelbys

Discussion in '2nd Generation Shelby Mustangs' started by ColdwaterHotRod, Sep 3, 2005.

Are New Car Buyer laws needed to protect us from price gouging?

  1. Yes,we need some type of laws limiting the amount they can charge above sticker price

I don't think it's as simple as supply and demand. It also takes patience by the buyer. I've just read that Mustang sales are off 31% from last year. Partly due to the economy and gas pricing in general.

You could get a SGT for $29,995 last month. Granted an 07 but still a $39,000 MSRP. If you remember these cars were also commanding ADM's of $5000-$10000 on initial release. And I am finding GT500's under MSRP. Then you have dealers who are still holding 07 GT500's with ADM's. Who knows where it will end.

The new "Hot Ticket" is the Dodge Challenger. High ADM's but wait until next year. With the price of fuel they may come down to MSRP and below faster than the GT500's. Time will tell.

    Just my .02

We surely don't need government intervention in new car pricing.

Remember "Price controls" back in the 70's?? That was a mess.

Let the free market handle it.

People that must have the first one on the block....will pay the premium. Let them. No one is forcing you to purchase it.

Plus, the later model will most likely have improvements that will come about because of feedback on the first production.

Who said anything is wrong with them? I think they are both great improvements which is why I placed and exclamation point at the end of the sentence. I personally like these options so much that in my current search for a GT500 I am only looking at 2008 models with both of these options. The 09's are going to a single clutch disc in place of the dual disc, so I am looking only at 08's.

I paid 10k under MSRP for my SGT because the Ford garage shut down, I guess it just depends on how bad the dealer needs to sell.

well the market certainly adjusted itself. as a dealer, i sold my first 4 07's for 15k over, i sold my next 4 08's at 5k over, now if you want to order an 09, i'll be lucky to get sticker price for it. just like everything else in this country, the market dictates the price. i'm assuming the KR will do exactly the same. we're expecting ours in mid-november and hoping to get over msrp, but if we don't and it sits there for 4 weeks, it's gone at msrp. check out the latest youtube video walkaround by the Big Boys in Chattanoog here:

    thanks for peeking in.
