Boo-Hoo. Well, there is supposed to be about 50 "real" Shelbys there, aside from the 150, ah, "other" Shelbys
They stated he had Cancer and was in the hospital for teatment and it was not life threating. It was a great turn out of fantastic cars, rare vintage cars. Weather was not all bad. Beer was Miller Pictures from the Volo Shelby Show..... http://www.piczo.com/shelbycars?g=9533714
Good reply Rodney, at least you and I have the same first name....like brothers now. huh? Yes, I own the white early model 67 GT 350 with the funny red light in the upper scoops (first 200 made only). I remember 2 of the winners of the autographed trophys. One went to the fellow who was the original owner of a 65 GT 350. He traded in a 64 GTO for it as he said that GTO couldn't corner. The other winner was the fellow with the red 67 GT 350, one of 20 something original factory Paxton superchargered cars. Cool. And, I came away with warm feelings for the Dodge Shelbys. Kind of like the Omni GLHS. And had a nice chat with the original owner of the Shelby Dakota. The p'up had only 4500 miles on it. And there was a Dodge Daytona Shelby drag car that could turn 12's with the 4 cyl engine. And, talked with a former rally driver, he drove a 67 GT 350 in the "Press On Regardless" ralley some 20 or so years ago. Lost control on some ice and wiped the car out agaist a tree, The photo was in Car and Driver, and the car, before he junked it, was at the SCCA booth at the Chicago auto show. His son's 66 GT 350 with webbers was parked right next to me. Saw a 69 Hertz GT 350, yellow/black interior, a "funny looking" Mach I that was really a 428, non-Mach I sports roof car. Some other cool stuff. And, even though CS was not there, every dash plaque has Shelby's autograph on it, not just imprinted. Nice touch. And finally, a fellow was passing out flyers to restart a Chicago Shelby club. final name, type of organization to be determined at a meeting in late June. The former Northern Illinois Shelby club is not been real operative lately.
