anyone see the 67 500 project on e-bay that sold for $62,700 it will be interesting to see what happens at Barrett Jackson this year.
Ya I love to see cars in that shape. Its fun to see all the restored cars and see how they looked new but its cool to see a car how it was used. Neatest car SAAC 29 was a 67 500 a guy had when he was 17 I think from NY. Was in storage at his Dad's place for many years. Original paint etc. Talking to him was interesting because back then it was just another car and he would use it to go work, shopping and everyday stuff.
I dunno. A year ago, you could find complete #2 condition 67 GT 500 on Foolbay for that price. Somebody with a big bankroll must have bought it, or, this will be back on Foolbay in a couple of weeks with the dreaded "non paying bidder blah-blah" in the text of the ad. Did you see the white 67 GT 350 at SAAC 29? I too owned it since 1971, used to take it often to the car theft capitol of Chicagoland; River Oaks Center. Went camping in the car. All kinds of stuff you do with a 5 year old used car...
I have not yet reviewed the completed auction, but a car can be restored 100 times. It can only be "Original" once. a high roller with deep pockets can buy that car, put $50,000 in it and sell it next year probably for $150-200,000 Dollars. a minimum profit margin of $40,000 dollars is not too shabby! beats building Condo's for profit!! The Market is hot and only going to get hotter!
After reviewing the Play, I throw a RED FLAG!!! -1feedback Bidder followed by a 0 feedback bidder. I would say the last real Bid came in at around $45,000 Dollars. Now it could be a case of idiots running up an auction so Nobody will bid and when nobody pats, the owner will try and contact the last REAL bidder to see if there is any interest on his part. Someting stinks about this one for sure!
Just spotted this thread. the sale was real and the car is now at Tango Classics in Conecticut for restoration. You just never know. Frank
