I was driving near our summer home in northern Wisconsin on Wednesday. I came on a dead end road near the lake we have a house on and look what I found. I asked a guy walking his dog, he said it had been there 25 years. I think it is a 72? It's a convertible, body looks to be in good shape. I am going back tomorrow to knock on some nearby doors.

Nice find, Mike. Brings back lots of good memories. I had a couple 71 acapulco blue convertibles as daily drivers. I think the car you found is a 73, based on the urethane bumper. That was the last year of the mustang convertible for quite a few years.
Good Luck on your follow up visit.

    Len

Yeah, like Len said, it is a 73. Vertical turn signals instead of horizontal like the 71-72's. That was supposed to be the last year "ever" for a Mustang convertible and they sold quite a few. Still it looks pretty solid in the pictures. In high school my brother owned the twin to that one and it rode nice and was a lot of fun.

Good luck, nice find but I think it's missing the bubble wrap! My first Mustang was a 72 Mach 1, fun car, looooong hood!

Well, I talked to a neighbor who said the people gave the house on the property to charity. The owner still owns the area where the car is. I am going through the city to see if I can get a hold of him. A neighbor said he had a 67 Red with white that rusted into pieces that was uncovered, the state removed it a few years ago. Based on what they sell for and what it would take to get it running and looking right, I am not sure it is worth it.

Exactly! - I found my 65 in WI and it was covered in the stuff
(my pic above-I snapped that after pulling the wrap back to look at the car.
The guy in the pic is Dave, he had owned it since 1970)

Yeah, a plain jane 73 vert like that would maybe go for $12-15K if totally restored. I am upside down in mine and I've never even painted it.

It should have a deluxe interior. All of the 73 verts did.
