I am restoring the front suspension on my 70 (3/69) GT500 am have hit a snag. It seems I may have the wrong spindles. From what I have read, all 69 Shelbys were fitted w/the same spindles as the 69 Boss 302. These have larger bearings than stock Mustang spindles. The big bearings are loose on my spindles. One spindle has a C80...casting #, the other has no making at all. The bearings in my old hubs are std 67-69 size, not the later 70 size.

Did all 69 Shelbys come w/the Boss spindles?
How do you identify Boss spindles(other than by larger spinle dia.)? A casting # would be helpful.
Do you know where I can get some?????

Hey to a G.T.500 owner. In regards to your question about spindles, you should have the large bearing type if the car was produced after 04/17/69.If this car is to be driven and may see track time-go big-if it is a show only car keep it stock. We have seen cars break the small type of spindles. In either case have them magnafluxed to ensure no cracks have developed. It is cheap insurance and well worth it.Ford claims that the wider 15" wheels put added stress into a part that was not designed to handle that type of load.Lots of info in the BOSS 302 book by Donald Farr, and well worth reading-it may contain casting numbers as well.
    Good Luck :)

No they were meant for the later - larger tires. The whole date thing is in discussion but considerign your date of build it does not concern you

Since you don't need them, we'll save you some money (read approx $500 for two rotors) all you need is the standard Mustang ones and the bearings to go with them

Sounds like they went to the bigger bearing spindles about the same rime they went to the white Gabriel shocks. So, the std spindles are correct for a 3/6/69 prod car.

Anybody wanna buy some repo big bearing rotors???

Believe that would (along with the E70 x 15's) would be what would be expected. The suspension change was all about the need to support the new wider tires.

Just noticed your signature - any pictures of the car? I'm almost in the middle :( of a 69 restoration - lots of pieces.

Opps. The owner of the car I'm helping will already ponied up and bought a pair.

The early 69's got the C8 spindles and the later after 4/15 got the D0 marked larger bearing spindles. To add to the puzzle I have owned few early 69's built in Jan that had DO marked spindles and have seen a couple Of 70 GT350's with KK marked Boss 9 spindles.

Yes the spindles are a mess - My 4/69 Boss has one KK and on D0 spindle and the 5/69 350 We're doing has KK on both

Don't mean to confuse the issue more ;)
