At Bob Gaines' suggestion, I have started this thread to collect anomalies in production of the 1967 Shelby. Please bear with me. I seem to have a problem confusing running production changes with anomalies :)
    Examples include:

    Engine Compartment
    Presence/absence of heater motor shield
    Presence/absence of z-shaped battery strap
Presence/absence of battery heat shield on non thermactor & non AC cars

    Engine (GT500)
Configuration of GT500 PCV vacuum source: aircleaner; intake manifold
Configuration of GT500 air cleaner lid: no name; Cobra sand cast; Cobra die cast

    Body
Presence/absence of Ford data plate on driver’s door
Presence/absence of Z in Shelby VIN
Configuration of curved taillight panel: hand-laid; press-molded
Configuration of upper scoops attachment: j-nuts and bolts; molded in studs
Configuration of sill plate emblems: Shelby American; Shelby American Los Angeles, California

    Undercarriage
    Presence/absence of shipping tie-down brackets

    Interior
Presence/absence of metal cutouts from installation of brake scoops under rear seat

    Trunk
Presence/absence of trunk light with fiberglass deck lid
Configuration of trunk mat: rubber; jute
    Configuration of Magstar jacks/handles: 3/4" jack w 3/4" handle; 13/16" jack w 13/16" handle; 13/16'" jack w 13/16" & 3/4" handles

Joe you included - shipping tie-down brackets?

Since these were an item that was designed to be removed at dealerships I'm surprised you included it in your list, unless your suggesting that Ford or Shelby removed them on some cars.

    Just asking

Might want to remember (sure someone will forget) to include car number and maybe when the car was at Ford & Shelby as well as if the car has been restored or modified to their knowledge.

Hi all involved with this subject. Most of this list is/has been explained by production dates and vendor stock. Before we get pages of stuff on details..as suggested by Jeff we should track it by Date. The Ford production date and the Shelby conversion date.Serial numbers are also crutial so we can watch for patterns and put an accurate date with the change.
The mention of scoops and taillight panels is interesting, did you realize that there were at least 3 different suppliers of fiberglass parts within the 67 build? From this angle each company used different molds to make parts from, and none in 67 were pressed as is on this list. That didnot happen until the 68 parts were produced.
Also the battery bracket was designed by Ford to help secure the heavy duty battery used in certain applications like A/C or H.D. alternators. All cars should be equipped with brackets if they had this option specified on a build sheet, and were originally equipped with a heavy duty battery. This may also explain the heat shield usesage, again due to heavy duty batteries.
Let us hope this effort can explain things in greater detail, and we will learn even more about the history that surrounds these cars.

It would be great if we can wrap our hands around date and unit numbers!
Good points on the shipping tie-down brackets and press-mold taillight panels. In one case, something the dealer may or may not have done and the other a service part, not a production variation in the true sense. I have never seen one of these panels in person, but have these pictures in my file (always assumed it was a press-mold part from the embossed part number).

It may grow into an albatrose but for now, it may be worth keeping these on the list in a separate category for lack of a better place to put them. It brings to mind the evolution of replacement parts available from Ford (ie. original brushed instument cluster inserts with attaching tabs and silk screened lettering vs replacements with sticky back and labels, or FoMoCo vs Autolite parts).

Joe, just asking. You are familiar with the post from early this year about all the 67 Shelby/Fomoco production variations, running production changes, etc. Right?

    Roddster,
Are you talking about the one started by Roy at:

    http://www.shelbyforums.com/forums/...500/7130-1967-running-production-changes.html

If that's the one, the reason for the second thread is to separate unique features of individual cars from running production changes. I have a hard time separating the two in my mind and Bob suggested we simply start another thread.

If there's another thread, please let me know so I can link the two and kill this post.

    Hey Joe,
    What about:
Upper Side Scoop Lights, Exhaust Trim Rings (two types), Inboard Headlights (two types) and White Interior (not parchment).

    David.
