Did all Shelby's produced come with the smog pump? I can't find any record that the car ever had a pump other than the holes in the manifolds.

I am not sure about small block cars but to the best of my knowledge KR's were definitely all smogged and with regard to Ca. registered GT-500's highly probable.

All Cobra Jet cars did have "smog". So, did all 4spd GT350s. The ports for the thermactor pipes are in the heads, not the manifolds. Many times people replace them with bolts or block off plugs. At least some of the GT500 cars came with smog. There is a picture of one on my website:

Cars that went to California, most likely had it also. There were several other states that required emmissions controls. I would say 4spds were more likely to have it over the automatics.

If you send me some pictures of the heads and or the alternator brackets, I could take a good guess. You might also try SAAC for warranty record information on your specific car. The truth is it was much more common than most owners want to admit..... :noway:

Speaking of 68 cars, big blocks I think some came with thermatic [ ?? ] fresh air pump, & some came with Imco fresh air pumps. I don't know what the diff. is. ---S.

I have a very early 68 GT500 auto, and it didn't have smog stuff on it when I got it. The block also has webed mains like a CJ block, I'm looking for the date code for the block to see if it was changed.

Mine was built on 1-11-68 -428 P I -C6 single vac. advance & the heads have what looks like screw in plugs that the plumbing for fresh air [thermactor ] rails would go.--- Now every car that I look at has the dual vac. advance , either the 302, 428, or the 428 K.R.- In the shop repair manual there is a reference to the IMCO fresh air system, what ever that is.---later --S.

I have a 68 KR conv- my understanding is that all automatic cars have the single vacuum advance distributors. The manuals have the dual. It is also my understanding that all CJ cars have the smog which mine does.
