I thought I read it here somewhere but can not find it.....something about washing them some how with soap or some kind of cleaner..simple green...ajax..jewelry cleaner..pepto bismal...ranch dressing....HELP>>>
Not Ranch dressing, but French! Just kidding, what year do you have? The 68 belts come apart fairly easily and then you can wash them in the wash machine when your wife goes shopping.
I tried french and now my belts are orange.... We have the 65 66 belts...dont want to get the leather soaked...I remember seeing a big discussion on how some people were doing it...just could not find it..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Belts into washing machine actually works well! Might have to use RIT to re-do the color Hey guys Maybe someone can help me on my restoring my 1968 GT350 I have Re-done the electrical system and finally got the dynamite sticks in for the rear sequential tail lights working but an additional part of my electrical problem was also stemming from up front..seems I am missing the actuator cable to enable the steering wheel to tilt away from the steering knuckle I would rather not have to buy a whole new sterring column to get this so if anyone knows of one or where I can get it it would be soooo helpful and much appreciated Thanks much guys Bob
Uh oh, this post is reminding me to go out and buy a new turkey baster before my wife finds out what I used hers for.
+1. My approach exactly. I let them soak for a good 8 hours, agitating the water every so often. Don't let the leathers get wet though.
