1956 AC Ace on ebay. The guy never calls it an Ace, he refers to it as an "all steel Cobra replica"? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1956-All-STEEL-Cobra-Replica-Body-ready-for-Paint-RARE_W0QQitemZ270295515349QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270295515349&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A-1%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
Re: 1956 AC Ace on Ebay Some ones attempt at a cobra. All hand made from steel,..he should have started with a good kit. Would have been more accurate and cheaper. [the grill, fenders and bumper don't look close to being correct],..you would have to have the rest of the car hand made just to get parts to fit.
When he proclaimed it a 56 I just thought it must be and Ace. I really don't know a whole lot about them.
The guy has a good sense of humor. The car started out as the AC Ace, in '53 with their own dumb engine, aluminum but a real turkey going back to the 1920s. Then they got the Bristol engine, a zingy little number designed in Germany by BMW that was used in several pre war BMWs. Does he say what engine it has? The final engine was a six cylinder Zephyr. For some reason you don't hear the phrase AC-Zephyr as much as you hear AC-Bristol though it was the long nose Zephyr version that Shelby used for the Cobra. I thin AC Bristols are already up to oer $100,000 They also made a coupe, a fastback version which I read once Shelby was thinking of importing back in the early days of the Cobra. Many people have put V8s into AC's including the late Ak Miller and that Cobra champion of the west, Lynn Park
