Anyone installed or researched converting the GT500 rear brakes to match the front Brembos, and why wasn't this done from new, seems redundant not match up the cars brake system, if nothing else for a symmetrical appearance. Dave
I guess I would consider it overkill. In its stock form the GT 500 has one of the best stopping times/distances of any production car.
From what I have read, none are avalible from Brembo due to the axle design and potential binding of the calipers due to the floating rear axle. I could be wrong though. On the Super Snakes they are running the 6 piston Baer units on 14" rotors up front and are releasing a matching 6 piston unit for the rear. That I think is overkill. I am running the 6 Piston Extreme kit on my SGT and was speaking with the guys from Baer in Januany. I was looking for a matching 4 piston unit. Don't think that is in the works yet. Roger
I called Brembo with the same question, they said since the rear axle has some movement in & out their brakes would not work since they only manufactur a fixed caliper and not floating calipers like the stock rears are. The guy said they are not planning an upgrade for our cars.
