Hi, I am doing my frst oil change on a 65 GT350. I would appreciate any help/advise as to what oil/filter to use, I have done a search but did not come up with anything. I would also like some help on procedure. Thanks
go to the http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/showforum.php?fid/9/ or http://www.hipomustang.com/hpmx/default.asp and do a search on those forums archives. There is more info than you will need. I use Mobil 1 15w-50, mainly for the reduction in friction over conventional oils. Others swear by dinosaur oil. Whichever one you use, look for a high zinc or zddp number. 1000 ppm or higher. That will protect your cam & lifters. The Mobil 1 15w-50 has a zddp number of 1200 ppm. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Car_Care/AskMobil/Flat_Tappet_Engines.aspx http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Car_Care/AskMobil/ZDDP_Levels_Classic_Cars.aspx http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Files/Mobil_1_Product_Guide.pdf http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_15W-50_.aspx http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English...bil/Oil_for_Vehicles_Mechanical_Pushrods.aspx good luck Z. ASN, would you mind responding to my (Sticky) post @ the top of the 65-70 forum, RE: VIN stampings? Thanks. Mike
