I ask these questions here because you guys have an incredible wealth of knowledge. So I understand Ray Brown belts were used in 65' and up to around car 2009 for 66'. Could someone tell me if these Ray Brown belts look correct. Belt one and belt two are different. One has the word "model" at the bottom of the tag and the other one does not. I'll also attach a pic of Impact belts that state manufactured by Ray Brown???? Is this so? I thought Impact was a different company. Or is CS Impact different from these Impact belts? My head is spinning trying to figure these out. Click on the photos three times to get a larger view for detail.
my car is 6S1431, it has One Ray Brown and One Impact, been that way since I first saw the car in 1967 and I didn't change them I guess they just threw on what ever was laying around that day, or Hertz changed one of the other at one time. Here a couple of pictures of the belt tags
Rental cars !!! now lets see .....what happens should the Hertz detailer have two cars he is servicing and he takes the seat belts out puts them in a pile and never checks the tags to see if the same go back to the original cars. You all may have the two cars he was working on...You all should contact each other and trade and have a matching set!!!.. Just kidding guys...I think there are many more scenarios that go with rental cars....
The Ray Brown belts look like reproductions, very new appearance. I have a repro set from a Cobra dealer in Georgia.
belts from 6s1117 belts in the first post appear to be too new looking, especially on the label, to be original. Z. Ray
The Ray Brown belts shown by ccarccrazy could also be restored originals. Jim Cowles did a set for me that look very similar but I think the labels might be better. I've not seen that style Impact label before. What are the floor clips like on the Ray Browns?
Jim Cowles could make the dead sea scrolls look like they were hot off the presses. There is no one better at what he does. Z. Ray
Thanks for the pics Z. Ray. I agree, all Jim's stuff is top notch. The belts he did for me are fantastic.
Thanks so much for posting those pics Z.Ray. Your pics saved me from buying these (below left). As you can see the hardware is very similar but it requires the 3" belt to be folded narrower to go through the hardware which is actually a bit narrower than your originals (below right).
